I don't tan. I burn like nobody's business but I never seem to tan. So, for me, the best way to get bronzed, summery skin and chiselled cheekbones is to fake it. Now, this is no mean feat for us pale gals but I've managed to find a few products for bronzing and contouring that suit fairer skintones.

The key for contouring pale skin is to use cool tones since most products show up way too orange whereas taupey/grey shades mimic far more natural shadows. The shade Sombre from the Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette is a light, cool-toned brown and the formula is soft and blendable which makes it easy to create a natural looking, non-stripey contour. A more affordable and travel-friendly option is the NYX HD Blush in the shade Taupe. This one is slightly darker than Kat Von D's offering so I like to use it for full-on, Kim K-esque contour that still looks natural on my ghostly face.

Finding a bronzer for pale skin can be equally tricky. Both the Benefit Hoola Bronzer and the L'Oreal Glam Bronze Bronzer manage to warm up fair complexion worthy of a cheeky 'ooh have you been away?' without looking like a tangerine. It's a tough line to walk. And, if Hoola is still a tad on the dark side Benefit have just come out with Hoola Lite - I got you, boo.
