It has been a mare and a half to get my hands on this bad boy but I finally have it and I'm so excited. As soon as the Melt Cosmetics Gemini Palette was released back in June I knew I needed it and decided I was going to treat myself after my birthday. But, when I went to buy it it had sold out. No biggie - I'll just wait patiently for the restock because sold out products are always restocked, right? WRONG. After months of waiting, tweeting Melt Cosmetics and searching for dupes I had almost given up hope when an email popped into my inbox a couple of weeks ago informing me that the palette was back! I have never bought something so fast in my life. Now, Melt is a pretty pricey brand already but chuck in shipping and customs fees from the US and this palette ending up costing me a bomb. So the question is, after all this time and money, was it worth it?

The shade selection is what immediately drew me in. After I missed out on this the first time I searched high and low for a dupe but I couldn't find anything remotely similar. These days it's pretty rare for an eyeshadow palette to be unique but still neutral and wearable at the same time but Melt has absolutely nailed it. The matte, warm browns and mustards are ideal for everyday and I love the cooler olive tones for more dramatic looks. The whole palette has a very grungey, earthy, autumnal vibe which I am all about and the shades are super flattering on my brown eyes.

I'm going to make a controversial statement here so hang on...I think these mattes are the most  pigmented eyeshadows I've ever used. The texture is impossibly soft and smooth and you only need the tiniest bit for some serious pigment. The softness does mean that you get a fair bit of kick-back  in the pan when you tap your brush in but I don't get any fall-out on my face so I really don't mind this. As for shimmers, there's only two in this palette and for me there's a hit and a miss. Goalz is a stunning metallic olive green that is buttery smooth and just so pretty but I was a bit disappointed by Gemini. I was expecting an intense, metallic rose gold but in reality it's actually quite sheer and works better on top of other shades to add some shimmer rather than being worn alone.

So yes, this palette was quite expensive and a pain in the arse to get hold of but I'm really glad I have it in my collection. The shades are different to anything else I own and the quality is insane so I know I'm going to get a lot of use about this. Plus I am a Gemini so I didn't really have a choice, did I?
